Promoting Healthy Living for Older Adults - Social Planning Council of Peel
In 2024, the Mississauga Foundation awarded the Social Planning Council of Peel $24,900 through the Novo Nordisk Chronic Disease Fund to support their initiative focused on promoting healthy eating and social wellness for older adults (55+).

The funding enabled the delivery of seven in-person workshops, each lasting 1 to 2 hours, which were designed to teach practical skills related to healthy lifestyle choices and social engagement.
The program had a profound impact on the community, benefiting seniors across Peel Region. A total of 94% of participants rated the workshops as excellent, very good, or good, reflecting the high level of engagement. Furthermore, 73% of attendees reported finding the workshops helpful, with 74% expressing a positive impression of the sessions.

The mission of the Social Planning Council of Peel is to enhance the quality of life for Peel residents by promoting social equity, inclusion, and community well-being. Their vision is to create a more connected, informed, and healthy community. This program aligns with their mission by addressing the specific health and wellness needs of seniors, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to improve their lifestyle.
