Nancy Salmon.

 

Ms. Salmon was born in England in 1921, and came to Canada at 8 years old. Due to poor vision, she had to leave school at age 16, which she dearly regretted. Through a bequest, Ms. Salmon created the Nancy Salmon Scholarship Fund with the Community Foundation of Mississauga.

PURPOSE

The Nancy Salmon Scholarship Fund provides grants that ensure young people who experience financial hardship will be able to pursue a university education.

SUPPORTS

U of T Mississauga Students experiencing financial hardship.

Results

The Nancy Salmon Scholarship Fund provided its first grants in 2014. Since then, the Fund has provided financial assistance to 785 students at U of T Mississauga. Collectively those students have received $498,356 in financial assistance from the Fund.

 

Over the past nine years, the fund has grown to $1.9 million, and will continue granting to support students in need, in perpetuity.
