Fostering Healing through The Lighthouse for Grieving Children

The 2023 Smart and Caring Children and Youth Grant, totaling $3,000, has made a profound impact on The Lighthouse for Grieving Children. The grant facilitated the acquisition of new bookshelves, enhancing the capacity of their Grief library resources. Additionally, it provided crucial funds to acquire new resources, which have become invaluable for participants, staff, volunteers, and the broader community.

The purchase of new bookshelves has not only expanded the library's hosting capabilities but has also allowed them to replenish and diversify their collection. Furthermore, the grant played a vital role in supporting their lending library, a cornerstone of The Lighthouse for over two decades. This year, they extended their reach by providing resources to several local schools, aiding them in supporting grieving students within their communities.

“This grant allowed us to purchase new book shelves to host our Grief library resources as well as providing much needed funds to purchase some new resources which are regularly utilized by participants, staff, volunteers and the broader community.

This grant supported our lending library which has been a fixture of Lighthouse for over 20 years.  This year we were able to support several local schools who were dealing with grieving students and find resources to help those students.”
