Pendle Fund

The Pendle Fund provides grants of up to $30,000 to successful applications across multiple focus areas - Children and Youth, Education, Environment, and Health and Wellness, etcetera.

Novo Nordisk Chronic Disease Fund

The Novo Nordisk Chronic Disease Fund provides up to $25,000 to successful applications. Grants will be awarded to charitable and community organizations undertaking initiatives aimed at tackling the rise of chronic diseases through disease prevention, stabilization and management interventions that support equity-deserving communities that are at higher risks of developing chronic diseases.

Hazel McCallion Arts, Culture and Heritage Fund

The Hazel McCallion Arts, Culture and Heritage Fund provides up to $15,000 to successful applications. Grants will be awarded to organizations delivering projects/activities that support Arts, Culture and Heritage.

Smart and Caring Children and Youth Fund

The Smart and Caring Children and Youth Fund provides up to $5,000 to successful applications. Grants will be awarded to both Registered Charitable and Not-for Profit organizations that deliver projects/activities in support of children and youth (Ages 1-24).

The Mississauga Foundation Catalogue of Community Needs Grant

This grant allows charities to share their specific needs, which will be considered by our donor-advised funders for their annual charitable giving. Charities can apply for unrestricted grants of up to $2,000, with each organization eligible to submit one application. This initiative helps connect community needs with funding to make a meaningful impact in Mississauga.

Charitable Organization Funds

Charitable funds offer nonprofit organizations within Mississauga the chance to establish income-generating endowment funds. Creating a Charitable Fund with the Mississauga Foundation is an excellent choice for organizations looking for a simple and flexible way to create a fund - not their own foundation. Opening a Charitable Endowment Fund is an investment that ensures lasting support for your organization.

We’d love to hear from your organization

Grant Application FAQs

How do I apply for a grant?

Grants are submitted on our online grants portal. Please visit How to Apply for more information on how to apply for a grant.

Can two charities partner on one application?

Yes, two registered charities are welcome to apply for funding together. However, one charity must become the lead organization on an application. If successful, this lead charity will receive The Foundation’s grant and be responsible for its stewardship throughout the year. Charitable partnerships must be outlined within the application. There is a question which specifically asks for details about partnerships and collaborations. If two charities are partnering together on an application, both charities in the application are only eligible to submit one collaborative application to one funding stream. Once this application is submitted that funding stream will accept no more applications from the two charities who have partnered. All other funding streams remain open to the two charities for unique/different applications.

Can an organization without Canadian registered charitable status (e.g. Not-For-Profit) apply for a grant?

For the Smart and Caring Children & Youth Grant only, both Registered Charities and Not-for-Profits are eligible to receive funding from the Mississauga Foundation. For all other grants offered, only Registered Charitable Organizations can apply. Contact grants@mississaugafoundation.ca with any questions.

How do we know if our Registered Charitable Organization is in good standing with the Canadian Revenue Agency?

Click here for a list of registered Canadian charities found on the Canada Revenue Agency website, to check your status.

Does a grant to a project in one or multiple years in the past imply success for the same project in the future?

No, funding is always granted for a single year. Even if your project or program has received funding for several years in the past this does not imply future funding.

How often can we apply?

The Pendle Fund and the Smart and Caring Children & Youth Fund applications are accepted in the month of September.  For the Novo Nordisk Chronic Disease Fund, Hazel McCallion Fund for Arts, Culture & Heritage, and the Catalogue of Community Needs Grant, applications are accepted in the month of February.

Are late applications accepted?

Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

When can we expect to hear if our application has been approved?

Grants are generally approved between the months of April through August. Your organization will be notified if your application has been successful or not.

What if our organization receives a grant for a particular project and we are unable to proceed with the project?

It's essential in this situation that you let our Grants and Community Initiatives Team know as soon as possible at grants@mississaugafoundation.ca. We will work with your organization to see what alternatives can be found, but it is possible in certain circumstances that the grant (or a portion of the grant) may need to be returned to the Foundation.

Does the Foundation provide grants to religious organizations?

Registered charitable organizations serving people in Mississauga are eligible to apply for project grants. This may include religious organizations. However, the project proposal submitted cannot be religious and must align with the Foundation's funding priorities.

Our organization was previously awarded a grant and the project isn't yet complete. Can we still apply for grants?

You may apply for grants, even if your previous project isn't complete as long as you have no over-due Grant Reports. If you do have over-due Grant Reports, those must be submitted in the portal and reviewed by the Mississauga Foundation before you can submit any new applications.  To see if you have outstanding reports, you and all account holders in your organization can log into the grants portal to determine if you do.
